Department Specific Accountabilities: Maintain a current knowledge of care and procedures for the emergency and trauma patient including an understanding of facility policies, and state and federal laws to provide optimal care for the patient. Practices time management to optimize completion of multiple tasks accurately and consistently within a fast-paced, critical-care environment. Demonstrates the ability to provide a medical screening evaluation and triage appropriately. Utilizes active listening skills to communicate with physicians, multi-disciplinary team members, patients and significant others involved in patient’s care. Effective communication at all times optimizes delivery of holistic approach to care. Demonstrates the ability to recognize cardiac rhythms and provide advance cardiac care to patients. Demonstrates knowledge of medications relevant to the emergency/trauma and critical care environment including the required monitoring to assure safe nursing practice. Prepared to respond to emergency situations within the department and responds to in-house or campus emergencies such as code blue situations and to act as the team leader following standard ACLS, PALS, and TNCC protocols.
