Summary Under the direction of, and in collaboration with unit management, performs responsibilities exercising initiative, judgment and independent decision-making within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy and other governing organizations. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in a systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and their families. Maintains certifications in all areas within scope of practice Supervision of LPNs, Nursing Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators as needed.* Demonstrates effective interviewing and assessment skills and integrates new or current techniques to obtain physical/psycho-social information from the patient/family to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care through the nursing process.* Initiates and maintains patient care plan to reflect current patient needs utilizing computerized documentation* Performs with minimal supervision, exercises good judgment to reduce errors. * Demonstrates willingness to work extra shifts if needed. * Demonstrates a willingness to train new staff. Attends annual skills fair. * Uses personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the given task. * Reports accidents or incidents and safety hazards promptly. * Cleans equipment, spills, etc. as necessary. * Identifies needs, instructs others, and actively supports the role of patient advocate/liaison by communication and documentation of patient information to the proper resources/agencies. * Proper computerized documentation will be maintained at all times.
