Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with our established Charting and Documentation Policies and Procedures. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education: Requirements for Practicing Surgical Technology in the State of Texas (per Texas H.B. 643-Chapter 259): Education/Certification: Has successfully completed an accredited educational program for surgical Technologist and holds and maintains certification as a surgical technologist by: a) the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor; b) the National Center for Competency Testing or its successor; c) another surgical technologist certification program approved by the department; OR Has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service. Experience: Main OR - Must have two years of experience in an operating room/healthcare environment or demonstrated proficiency in 6 services.
