The Medical Assistant – Internal Float (MA-Float) is a critical role to flexibly support our members and their families from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave the centers. The MA-Float may be asked to serve in front office or direct patient care activities, depending on center and member needs. This role supports the PCP day-to-day and ensure efficiency in the care provided to patients. MAs work closely and collaboratively with their teammates to greet, schedule, and room ArchWell Health members. S/he will be expected to assist in assessing patient’s health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing during appointments. The MA-Float may be asked to provide coverage outside of their primary center. Duties/Responsibilities Welcome members upon arrival and help them feel safe and at home, navigating through a seamless and clear check-in process Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals for a multi-disciplinary care team Update member information in the electronic medical records system Request medical records and upload documentation to electronic medical records system Conduct intake with patients, measuring and recording vital signs, patient interview, and medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring patients are informed and all questions and concerns are addressed for each procedure Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in patient conditions are reported to PCP, specialists, and/or other clinical personnel Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on patient experience, including answering of incoming calls and processing of patient phone messages, including returning calls; routing calls to other team members as appropriate; and calling patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times Assist with center events, as needed Required Skills/Abilities Must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity, driven and focused work ethic Self-starter with the ability to think creatively and work effectively Ability to work effectively with various seniorities and diverse populations including staff, providers, members, family members, insurance carriers, vendors and market leadership Strong communicator that is customer-oriented Excellent critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to analyze situations, determine risks, and find solutions to prevent future issues and resolve recurring defects Experience with claims/quality reports and analytical software packages Proficient PC Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite Ability to maintain professionalism and flexibility in a changing work environment Fluency in - languages spoken by our people in the communities we serve (where necessary) Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e., foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, but not required 6+ months phlebotomy experience is highly desired BLS for Healthcare Providers required EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus Embodies and serves as a role model of ArchWell Health’s Values Be compassionate Strive for excellence Earn trust Show respect Stay resilient Always do the right thing ArchWell Health is an equal opportunity employer. Position Details: Our patient ratio on cardiac is 6 patients to 1 nurse. It is a medical/telemetry floor. The main difference in between the Cardiac department and any other medical floor is that we see a few more specialized patients in addition to the typical medical population. For example, we take post op CABG/open heart patients as soon as day 1 following surgery, TAVRs, Watchmen and other post cath-lab intervention patients (stents, AIF, etc.) but they will never have a sheath, they may come to us with a radial band. None of our patients are on vasoactive drips but we do take amio, Cardizem and other cardiac drips and do titrate down to wean but don’t increase the rate on our floor. We don’t do nitro drips. Many of our patients have chest tubes. Acuity is really varied, some patients are simply needing their medications adjusted and must be supervised in the hospital with serial EKGs but otherwise are completely independent, some of our patients are very complex and sick but based on our treatments/interventions are still appropriate for our floor. Position Summary The role of the Licensed Practical Nurse reports clinically to the physician and administratively to the Clinic Manager. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care, assisting physicians with procedures, and assisting with front office duties, as needed. Essential Position Responsibilities Obtain patient vitals and update patient medical history while inputting data collected into the electronic medical records system Prepare patient for various procedures and/or examinations and assist physicians, as needed Refill provider-authorized medications via electronic, fax or phone as authorized and appropriate Provide direction, support, and counseling regarding medical therapies and medications as directed by the physician Assist patient by p roviding direction, support, and counseling regarding medical therapies and medications as directed by the physician Serve as patient liaison and advocate, as needed Schedule surgeries and various diagnostic tests and provide scheduled date to the patient Qualifications Education : Graduate of an accredited nursing program Licensure and Certifications : Licensed Practical Nurse license and CPR, required. Experience : Minimum of 2 years previous experience working as a LPN on an interdisciplinary team, preferred. Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
