Effectively and timely communicates with Option Care’s Clinical team, medical providers, patients, and families/caregivers to facilitate continuity of care. Prepares clinical documentation in real-time during visits and submits to the nursing department to comply with established timelines for billing optimization. Completes all documentation legibly and applies approved abbreviations and documentation error correction practices per Option Care’s policy. Coordinates discharge planning and prepares discharge summaries with patient instructions and thoroughly reports patient care needs, progress and goals when transferring care. Demonstrates compliance with agency operations, Option Care’s policies and procedures, professional standards, local, state, federal regulations/guidelines, and accreditation standards. Maximizes work efficiency through the use of computers and other automation technologies to validate plan of treatment orders, communicates patient care provided, and follows assigned visit schedule. Responds promptly and appropriately to patient requests. Initiates emergency procedures as necessary. Accepts accountability for own practice through ethical and professional conduct. Follows established programs and practice within policies and procedures reflective of Option Care’s mission, values, and objectives. The Nurse Practitioner is a member of the intensive care team and has as his/her primary responsibility the management of critically ill complex patients in an intensive care and stepdown care setting. The NP has specialized skill and knowledge related to the unique ICU setting in which s/he practices and performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services in a specific ICU or Stepdown, according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards. The NP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and nursing profession. Duties may include obtaining patient health histories and complete physical examinations, documenting findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. May also need to explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff, and healthcare learners. Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status. Document patient preparation and response to procedure(s). Writes orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician. 9. Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications and provides direct patient care services in the ICU and stepdown settings, according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards. 10. Identifies records pertinent progress of patients, updating and summarizing charts, changing orders when appropriate and notifying the responsible physician of changes in the patient’s condition. 11. Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, psychological problems, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs. 12. Maintains compliance with established University and department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control and complies with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies. 13. Participates in in-service education programs and professional associations. Provides leadership to the organization and nursing profession. 14. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Provides for a safe environment for patients and visitors. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred 3. BLS certification within 30 days and maintain current 4. ACLS certification within 90 days and maintain current 5. NRP certification within 90 days and maintain current 6. Basic Fetal monitoring within 60 days of hire and maintain current 7. AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 12 months 8. AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate preferred 9. STABLE preferred Pay Transparency St. Francis Medical Center offers competitive compensation and the current compensation rate for this role is $61.62. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status.
