Job Title: Registered Nurse- Endoscopy (PRN) Job Summary: The RN - Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive efficient and high-quality care. This position will deliver quality care to patients utilizing the process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The RN effectively interacts with patients and other healthcare staff while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Ocean State Endoscopy Center has an opening for a Per Diem RN. We are a 3 room Ambulatory Endoscopy Center, providing care for patients having upper endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. Candidate must have an RI Nursing license, ACLS, BLS, 1-2 years of Medical/Surgical experience Pre-op, PACU, and Endoscopy skills preferred. Good interpersonal and customer service skills are a must. Basic computer skills needed. This position is Per Diem Monday through Friday, flexible hours to cover the needs of the Center. No weekends, no holidays, no on-call. Essential Job Functions: Participates in the development of patient care delivery systems, standards, policy and procedures, and problem-solving teams. Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies, and procedures and guidelines in caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients: follows age specific standards in administering medications based on patient's age; follows age specific standards of care during altered states of consciousness related to analgesia, conscious sedation or anesthesia; uses age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines to perform treatments and procedures that are routine for unit/clinic based on patient's age. Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into plan of care: in collaboration with the patient/family, and in a developmentally and culturally appropriate manner, implements the plan of care; demonstrates competency in the provision of nursing care according to established standards of nursing practice and in developmentally appropriate manner. Collaborates and works cooperatively with physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary health care team in formal and informal teaching of patients and/or family about his or her disease process and wellness promotion plan and discharge planning: assesses patient/family learning needs, abilities, preferences, and readiness to learn; utilizes a collaborative interdisciplinary process to provide appropriate patient/family education; utilizes available information to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in producing the desired patient outcomes and makes adjustments in teaching as indicated. Participates in performance improvement activities which include collecting, analyzing data to identify quantifiable measures to maintain quality and the promotion of desired outcomes. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, ability to provide and delegate appropriate activities to staff based on patient assessment, complexity of the task, level of competence of staff and/or certification/licensure requirements and the requirements to deliver care in a safe efficient manner maximizing positive outcomes for the patient. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Ability: Graduate of a school of nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. One (1) to three (3) years recent experience as an RN; experience in orthopedic, neurosurgical, pain management specialties preferred. Job Summary The Nurse Navigator functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator, and counselor for orthopedic surgical patients. Is responsible for ensuring all adult patients with an oncology diagnosis receive quality and comprehensive services, including coordinating patient care throughout the continuum in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The Nurse Navigator will serve as a clinical resource with expertise in orthopedic care management and will serve as a liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this unique patient population and will provide expert nursing care, which includes: direct clinical practice, consultation and education. Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and coordination to provide nursing care and guidance to the cancer patient from screening to survivorship. Systematically and continually performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care according to the nursing process and Nursing Society Standards of Practice. Provides education and information to the patients and their family, helping to make the care seamless, continuous and comprehensive. Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and significant others based on assessment of needs, including psychosocial, and lifestyle practices. Responds to patient request for information regarding the disease process, expected side effects of treatment and community resources. Uses appropriate patient Education documentation modality. Supports the patient during difficult decision-making periods. Assists in coordination of end of life care for patient and family and provides emotional support.
