Location: Parkland: 15th FLR BLK 600 **NIGHT SHIFT** Full Time Position Primary Purpose A Registered Nurse (RN) with > 2 years of experience. The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. Must provide safe medical administration using the patient's six (6) rights, provide maintenance and management of IV access, must be able to perform POC monitoring, demonstrate safe infection control practices and CRRT for the adult ICU patient. Supports pain management as appropriate for each individual patient, provides emergency resuscitation care of an adult and provides an individualized plan of care. Maintains and implements knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact or govern nursing practice, and ensures the hospital and Parkland are in compliance. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Maintains and updates knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, appropriate utilization of supplies and materials. Completes appropriate documentation. Maintains accurate and timely entries and notations in patient care records and hospital documents. Education and Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults living with dementia, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Refer to specific state regulations for qualifications required to assist with medications and direct care duties. Knowledge of dementia, particularly of the Alzheimer's type. Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements In accordance with state law, may need to possess current state certification and follow regulations to maintain current certification. Problems are generally solved with clear, detailed guidelines or by reporting them to a supervisor. Knowledge and Skills Has a basic level of a skill and can follow written or verbal instructions. Has basic technical skills to complete a few repetitive and well-defined duties. Has a basic knowledge of the organization in order to answer basic questions. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively in English with residents, family members and other associates of the company. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Uses good judgment in emergency situations, and seeks assistance when needed.
