Overview Pavilion 6, an Intermediate surgical and medical surgical unit with 30 single rooms, is deeply committed to providing exceptional patient care. Our surgical services include surgical oncology, urology, bariatrics, and thoracic and colorectal surgery. Our leadership structure, comprised of a clinical director, an assistant clinical director, clinical nurse managers, and a clinical educator, is dedicated to supporting our staff and patient safety. Pavilion 6 is supported by our unit secretaries, critical care technicians and registered nurses seven days a week. We work towards having all of our nurses’ cross-trained in surgical intermediate within the first year at Cooper. Pavilion-6 fosters a close relationship with our providers, as our APN’s and Surgical Residents are easily accessible for support, questions, and directions with patient care. They have offices right here on the unit, along with our leadership team and our transitional care team. Other duties as required Overview Kelemen 8 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, illnesses and disease processes. North and South 8 have telemetry capabilities for our patients. Kelemen 8 has frequent admissions and discharges. Kelemen 8 can accept a total of 77 patients. The North side houses 37 patients, and the South side houses 36 patients. There are two negative pressure rooms with an anti-room. There is a pharmacist present on the unit to assist the RNs with medication questions/concerns. Multidisciplinary rounds occur every Monday through Friday. Rounds involve all aspects of the healthcare team, including the patient and family. A Brief Overview This RN position requires 12 months of previous RN work experience. It is 36 hours a week, FT, rotating Days/Eves/Nights. Mostly 12 hour shifts, 1 week in the graph is 3 eight hour and 1 12 hour shift ,every third weekend. This team prefers RN's with previous ED ,VAS or ICU experience. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care. Care is delivered through RN leadership for patient care within the framework of family-centered care. Job Description The PICU is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE.This is a 36-hr/wk nightshift position. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Health, Delaware is a 24-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Primary Functions JOB DESCRIPTION The Registered Nurse is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family centered nursing care. The nurse provides safe nursing care to the pediatric primary care patients with minimal guidance and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care. The RN is responsible for daily patient care, assessment and treatment in collaboration with the clinical medical provider. The RN must be competent in caring for patients with moderate to complex heath issues. Assists nurse manager or Office manager with administrative issues which affect the clinical practices within the office as well as comply with the administrative policies and clinical protocols. Essential Functions: Follow the nursing process to deliver care: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Synthesizes patient assessments data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with the care team. Documentation reflects ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care. Provides care that meets professional standards of practice and meets regulatory requirements. Safely administers medications and medications as prescribed by the provider. Triages patient’s calls utilizing Barton Schmidt pediatric protocols, national teleheath standards and clinical advice from the clinical provider. Assists the clinical provider with in office procedures within the scope of the nurse’s license. Performs phlebotomy to obtain blood specimens and back office laboratory tests. Provides age and developmentally appropriate care to primary care patients. Additional Requirements: RN Required, BSN preferred.
