Mentors staff/students in aspects of advanced nursing practice and patient care Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patient health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations. Initiate and participate in admission histories and physicals, medical consultations in related subspecialty, and discharge planning. Order diagnostic tests and procedures. Establish a diagnosis based on the history, physical examination and diagnostic test results. Formulates differential diagnosis. Evaluate results of diagnostic testing of laboratory tests, EKG’s imaging studies, and medical procedures. Make appropriate consultations and referrals. Develop a treatment plan based on diagnosis and evidence-based practice that is mutually acceptable by the patient and family. Determine the effectiveness of the treatment plan with documentation of patient care outcomes. Reassess and modify the treatment plan to achieve optimal health and medical goals for the patient. Teaches and counsels families in medical conditions, treatment plans, preventive care and anticipated outcomes. Documents in the medical record with SOAP charting all care provided or procedures performed by the APN/NP. Include differential diagnosis in the documentation. Come join our team in the 12 bed I.C.U. as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who practices within the scope of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, individualized nursing care, based upon knowledge and experience, the nursing process and leadership skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assesses each patient’s biophysical, psycho-social, environment, spiritual, cultural, self-care, educational and discharge planning based on age and development status. Utilizes the caring behaviors of empathy, active listening and cultural sensitivity and supports patient dignity. Develops and prioritizes an outcome directed plan of care to assigned patients and changes as necessary. Performs clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures. Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions.
