The Licensed Practical Nurse - Allergy will provide a high level of general care and education to patients by using their knowledge and skills to promote the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience. Licensed Practical Nurse - Allergy Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider(s). Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations. Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under the direct or indirect supervision from a provider. Prepare necessary supplies for allergy testing and treatments. Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with and without bronchodilators. Assist in the interpretation of patch testing results and perform placement and removal as directed by an RN or provider. Maintain the immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness. Administer allergy shots and ensuring provider is on site. Observes, records and reports patients’ vitals and reactions to treatments. Assesses patients’ needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems. Supervise triaging of patient communications (through email and/or portal). Maintains accurate patient records, document all visits in EMR. Assures patient stays for required observation time after injections. Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations. Reacts appropriately in patient reaction situations, informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions. Assist providers in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorization (including biologics), and procedures within established guidelines. Understand provider to patient flow and anticipate provider’s next steps to the best of their ability. Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in the provision of quality patient care. Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date. Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to the preparation of allergy serums. Regularly interact with physicians, other providers, and staff to identify and resolve problems. Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials; and by attending seminars and conferences as needed. Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to the supervisor. Perform inventory responsibilities, including but not limited to, ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested. Qualifications Previous Allergy experience preferred. Graduate from an LPN education program approved by the respective state Education Department. Pass the NCLEX-PN examination. Active LPN license in the state working in required. CPR and AED Certifications required. Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems. Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent patient relations and customer service skills. Open availability to work during weekdays. Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing Currently registered in New Jersey, by state examination and experienced in supervision and teaching. Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in long term care. Behavioral Health experience preferred. POSITION SUMMARY: Performs nursing services based on the facility policies and procedures as regulated by the State and Federal law. PART 1: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS PERFORMANCE 1. Responsible for direction, provision and quality of Nursing care. a. Provides guidance and training to ADON and DON’s in training. b. Provides weekly supervision to ADON’s to discuss and review key issues. c. Provides support to Nursing Leadership through weekly meetings. 2. Responsible for ensuring one registered professional nurse is on duty at all times and reviews monthly Nursing schedules. 3. Reviews nursing 24 hour reports and brings issues for resolution to the daily morning meeting. 4. Makes every effort to adhere to Nursing Department budget as developed by administration; supervises ordering of medical supplies. 5. Responsible for coordinating and integrating nursing services with other patient care services to provide a continuum of care for the patients. 6. Participates in representing the Nursing Service in the facility’s staff committees including Patient Care Policy, Pharmacy, Infection Control, Utilization Review and CQI and Safety. 7. Responsible in the development and periodic update of written job description for each level of Nursing Personnel. Reviews and signs competency evaluation of personnel. 8. Ensures completion, documentation of Incident/Accident Reports in a timely manner. 9. Ensures that disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap or marital status. 10. Assists the administrator in the enforcement of Resident Care Policies. 11. Works as a team member with all other departments/auxiliary services 12. Provide direct Supervision to companywide MDS 3.0 Coordinators in all buildings to ensure accuracy and timeliness of assessments. 14. Provides In-Service training to Nursing in accuracy, scoring and assessment as it relates to MDS 3.0. 15. Monitors compliance with Monthly Pharmacy Consultant Reports, Monthly Psychoactive Summary Reports and Monthly Pain Management Summary Reports 16. Develops plans of corrections and training to all MDS Coordinator based on outcome of QA audits. PART II. FACILITY-WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES & STANDARDS 1.
