Overview The Short Stay Outpatient Unit (SSOU) is a fast paced environment where multidisciplinary services are provided for patients needing a vast variety of treatments. The MA will conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record information on patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The MA will also draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. The MA will also prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations. POSITION SUMMARY: The Wound Care Coordinator reports to and receives general direction from the Director of Nursing and is responsible for delivering quality wound care and preventative measures to maintain skin integrity to assigned residents in compliance with applicable federal and state guidelines and established policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Utilizes the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of residents wound and skin integrity • Collecting and documentation of residents’ skin status including medical history. • Wound care prevention and prevention through plan of care • Sets priorities for nursing action for wound care and prevention • Communicates with physicians regarding resident wound needs • Initiates nutritional interventions to ensure that residents with wounds are provided nutrition to promote wound healing. • Performs direct resident care utilizing established procedure, policies, and standards • Administer treatments and procedures in accordance with the physician’s orders • Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each residents while performing treatments • Communicates and interacts effectively, courteously, and tactfully with residents, visitors, family members, peers, and supervisors • Conducts rounds frequently to ensure that residents with incontinence are receiving pericare and preventative ointments timely.
