Work as co-sign to Intrathecal Chemotherapy administered by APP. Assists in emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient`s physical condition. Maintains awareness of procedural suite activities and works with the Procedure Suite team to maximize workflow. Keeps abreast of changing techniques in procedural nursing and maintains a high level of expertise in critical care. Responsible for intraprocedural monitoring of patients not limited to maintain active airway, assesses effective circulation and respiration via capnography and telemetry monitoring. Safely recover patients post sedation, perform discharge teaching, and evaluate safety of patient discharge. Coordinate correct research specimen collection with research coordinators. Maintain Joint commission readiness. Provide as needed support for biopsy specimen collection when not acting in a procedural sedation role. The Inpatient Pain FLEX Nurse Practitioner provides expert, evidence-based care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions throughout the hospital. The NP is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team that partners closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, intensivists, hospital medicine providers, nurses, pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, and palliative care providers to optimize pain management, functional recovery, and patient outcomes. In this FLEX role, the NP will be providing coverage for existing LOAs in various areas of the Pain Team. Responsibilities include: Perform comprehensive assessments, obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and develop individualized pain management plans for hospitalized patients with acute, chronic, postoperative, and medically complex pain conditions. Manage patients receiving multimodal analgesia, including opioid and non-opioid therapies, ketamine infusions, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), epidural analgesia, peripheral nerve catheters, methadone, and other advanced pain management modalities. Assess and manage patients requiring opioid or sedative weaning following prolonged critical illness or hospitalization. Job Requirements Job Knowledge and Skills Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation Education and Experience High School Graduate or GED preferred Current Hampshire LNA license required BLS/CPR AED Certification required An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
