The Surgical Center RN is accountable directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all patients within the scope of services. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Coordinates the post-operative care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, directs and guides other personnel while maintaining standards of care in the clinic. He/She communicates with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Works with other departments and co-workers to provide quality patient care across the continuum, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Current and valid state RN License. 2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. 3. Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training 4. The Longevity Program combines a comprehensive geriatric assessment with chronic disease management, cognitive health, medication review and weight management, organized around five pillars of healthy aging: sleep, nutrition, movement, mental health and social connection. It works alongside a patient's existing care and never replaces their primary care provider. The role This is an in-person contract role. We're looking for nurse practitioners in the Kansas City area to lead longevity days at our partner senior living communities. Each day opens with a short educational talk for residents on healthy aging, using a presentation and speaker notes we provide. You then see the residents who sign up for one-on-one longevity visits. You'll be trained and supported by our Chief Medical Officer, a board-certified geriatrician who designed the program's clinical content. Your first site day is run alongside a member of our team. Key Qualifications and Experience: Current, active LPN/LVN license required Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred Confident with multiple G-tube feedings and management Skilled in using Hoyer lifts and providing personal care, including diapering Competency in administering and tracking daily medications Able to identify and respond effectively to seizures Strong, professional communication skills Enjoys working with students facing challenges such as autism and medical fragility Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in higher-needs educational environments Energetic, positive team player who contributes to a supportive school culture Core Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality nursing care and medical attention to medically fragile students Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a safe learning environment Execute care plans as prescribed by medical practitioners Document all care and health events accurately Provide emergency care as needed and respond promptly to urgent situations Support students’ daily activities while promoting dignity and independence You will play a meaningful role in a school community dedicated to the well-being and success of exceptional learners.
