Monitor staff performance to ensure assignments are completed appropriately. Participate in employee performance evaluations in collaboration with Nurse Manager/ADON. Assist with staffing needs, scheduling recommendations, and workforce planning. Address and report employee concerns, performance issues, and disciplinary matters. Provide coaching, verbal counseling, and written warnings as appropriate. Foster a respectful, professional, and collaborative work environment. Communication & Coordination Give and receive detailed shift reports. Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and interdisciplinary team members. Report unit concerns, incidents, and operational issues to nursing leadership. Participate in meetings, in-services, and training as required. Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to infection control practices and standard precautions. Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements (including DPH and state guidelines). Report hazards, equipment issues, and safety concerns immediately. Protect resident confidentiality and privacy at all times. Technology & Systems Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) and other required systems efficiently and accurately. Supervisory Responsibilities This position directly supervises nursing staff including GNAs, CMAs, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and other assigned personnel. Administer medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation in accordance with facility policies. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans. Communicate changes in resident condition to physicians, families, and appropriate team members. Respond promptly and courteously to call lights and resident needs. Assist with admissions, re-admissions, and room transfers. Staff Supervision & Leadership Supervise Geriatric Nursing Assistants (GNAs), Certified Medication Aides (CMAs), nurses, and assigned staff. Monitor staff performance to ensure assignments are completed appropriately. Participate in employee performance evaluations in collaboration with Nurse Manager/ADON. Assist with staffing needs, scheduling recommendations, and workforce planning. Address and report employee concerns, performance issues, and disciplinary matters. Provide coaching, verbal counseling, and written warnings as appropriate. Foster a respectful, professional, and collaborative work environment. Communication & Coordination Give and receive detailed shift reports. Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and interdisciplinary team members. Report unit concerns, incidents, and operational issues to nursing leadership. Participate in meetings, in-services, and training as required. Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to infection control practices and standard precautions. Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements (including DPH and state guidelines). Report hazards, equipment issues, and safety concerns immediately. Protect resident confidentiality and privacy at all times. Technology & Systems Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) and other required systems efficiently and accurately. Supervisory Responsibilities This position directly supervises nursing staff including GNAs, CMAs, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and other assigned personnel.
