RN-Emergency Department Inpatient Nurse (EDIN)

Job Overview This position works 48 hours per 2 week pay period (.6 FTE) on the overnight shift (7pm-7:30am), 12 hour shifts, and every third weekend rotation. We are hiring RN's for a newly defined area! Fairview is looking for their next RN to join the Inpatient Emergency Department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN! Are you ready to join our team? The Registered Nurse in the EDIN (Emergency Department Inpatient Nurse) is responsible and accountable for monitoring and caring for inpatients who are admitted waiting for an inpatient bed. We offer a multidisciplinary approach to all emergencies and are cross trained to the Observation Unit. This role will provide med/surg nursing experience within the ED setting. After one year of experience in this role, the RN will have an opportunity to cross-train and transition into the emergency department. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN will perform these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Cardiovascular Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair and heart and lung transplant. The CVICU also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest. We apply extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Swan-Ganz catheters routinely. Our complex patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, management of organ failure, maintenance of systemic perfusion and high technical skills. This unit has a low nurse to patient ratio and resource nurses on unit. Schedule: This position will be working 0.60 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. This position will also work every third weekend. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
