Description A nurse practitioner is certified under section 6910 of the New York State Education Law and licensed as a registered nurse. A nurse practitioner provides acute/primary health care in accordance with written policies approved by nursing and medical administration. Responsibilities 1. Develops and implements a collaborative practice agreement in the specific clinical area and performs a periodic review of the collaborative agreement. 2. Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination. 3. Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examination, prescribes and alters medication regimens, interprets findings and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area. 4. Provides teaching and counseling in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses. 5. Initiates referrals to specialty services and fosters continuity of care. 8. Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to acute/primary health care delivery. 9. Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for our Neuro Critical Care opportunity. Office Hours: Full-time days or full-time nights, depending on your preference! 100% Inpatient Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Neurocritical Care, UHS Wilson Medical Center Annual Compensation Range: $143,100 - $167,000 ----- Position located at United Health Services Hospitals Neuro Critical Care Full-time, exempt and seeking both experienced and new graduate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care to critically ill and injured patients, collaborating with and under the direction of physicians in the Neuro-Endovascular and Neuro Critical Care Program, following established standards and practices. Minimum requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with ANCC or AANP certification or physician assistant program. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or PA program. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situation. CPR and ACLS certified and must maintain certification during employment. NIH Stroke Scale certification obtained within 3 months of employment commencement. Preferable characteristics: Previous critical care experience (ie. ICU or Emergency Department).
