In this role, the successful candidate The Instructor is a Registered Professional Nurse with advanced education and experience who provides for the orientation of new staff members; teaches required courses; provides in-service training; and provides educational programs identified through performance management and assessment of individual and staff needs. Job Responsibilities: Creates spreadsheets, reports and templates for Site Leadership. Includes age specific considerations in educational content, utilizing resources as necessary. Participates in the planning and analysis of educational programs based on evidence- based standards and guidelines to meet the needs of new nursing staff members. Provides teaching instructions to new staff members while assessing and evaluating staff competency during orientation. Confers with Director of Nursing Education regarding the competency of new hires, and submits post orientation evaluations in a timely manner. Meets regularly during orientation with Orientees, Preceptor and Nurse Manager to review progress and set objectives. Completes and maintains attendance sheets, program evaluations, and quarterly reports and staff evaluations in accurate, complete and timely manner. Participates in on-going competency assessment of nursing staff and identifies educational needs in collaboration with nursing leadership on assigned units Plans and teaches both formal and informal education to promote safety and quality based on The Joint Commission, state requirements and performance management issues. Reviews/revises Instructors and Nursing Education orientation manuals including class content outlines Serves as a consultant/resource to nursing staff in interpreting policy/procedure standards and evidence-based practices of nursing care.
