A Brief Overview The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) provides intermediate level care to patients with congenital and acquired heart disease as well as those with primary rhythm abnormalities. Patients include medical and surgical cardiac patients with an age range typically spanning newborns to young adults. These patients may include those with non-invasive ventilation, such as CPAP/BiPaP and stable trachs. Some patients require continuous inotropic infusions to support their heart function while others require mechanical support such as ventricular assist devices (VADs). As a unit dedicated to inter-professional collaboration and education, we strive to provide care to our patients and families while on the continuum of their inpatient stay within the Cardiac Center. This is a part-time, rotating shift position. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. The nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care. Care is delivered through RN leadership for patient care within the framework of family-centered care. The Clinical Nurse adheres to the organizational and nursing department mission, vision, and values. Position Registered Nurse RN -1 South Shift Full-Time, 36-hours per week; Nights (7:00 pm to 7:30 am); every third weekend rotation. Experience 1.1 year of recent RN experience required; telemetry experience highly preferred. Education RN Diploma, ASN required. BSN preferred. Licensures/Certifications PA RN license OR a multi-state license verified in one of the approved states through the Nursing Licensure Compact. Provider BLS (American Heart Assoc/American Red Cross) preferred.
