Pay Range: $19.32 - $24.13 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Overview Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists LIP as requested. Directs patients to examination rooms; assists in preparing patients for examination; assists patients in undressing, dressing and getting on and off of the examination table. Notifies provider of patient's arrival and readiness for their examination. Assists providers with patient examinations. Reviews charts prior to patients' scheduled appointment to assure that all requested lab work and diagnostic procedures have been completed and that reports have been returned and are accessible to the provider. Records medical history, current medications, treatments, and problem list accurately. Obtains and records patient vital signs, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure and reason for visit. Assists with patient equipment downloads, utilizing a variety of medical device software programs and printing appropriate reports for LIP review accurately and in a timely manner. Assists with medication reconciliation process, reviewing and accurately documenting patient medications. Accurately and efficiently performs all clerical duties as needed, including but not limited to patient registration, billing, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and initiating, maintaining and filing medical records. Assists with equipment cleaning, disinfection, and pasteurization, documenting appropriately according to standardized protocols. Disseminates and communicates accurate patient information appropriate to the patient's disorder. Accurately inputs data in the registration, electronic medical record, database and scheduling systems according to established procedures. Assists patients to complete essential paperwork and questionnaires. Assures exam rooms are cleaned after each patient and appropriately stocked with necessary supplies, equipment and forms. Practices proper infection control techniques. Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception Rep job duties as needed. Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management within any CH office location under the direction of a provider and manager in accordance with the objectives and policies of Capital Health (CH) and respective state laws governing such action and activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Incumbents working in Primary Care or Specialty Care offices may be assigned to other Capital Health Medical Group Practices as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two years of work experience as a medical assistant, EMT or other direct patient care related role. Will consider a current nursing student with completion of two clinical semesters from an accredited nursing program. Other Credentials: AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period Knowledge and Skills: Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Ability to document and maintain patient care records. Overview Labor & Delivery, Recovery, & Postpartum (LDRP): Experience a unit where you can contribute to roughly over 700 births annually, and then go on to care for those new moms and babies during the postpartum period. With the highly appealing nurse to patient ratios of 1 to 1 or 2 for laboring patients and 1 to 3 mother-baby couplets, this is the perfect unit to establish or progress your career in the fulfilling specialty of obstetrics/maternal-child health. The patient population on this unit encompasses care of the antepartum and intrapartum patient during the labor process and/or cesarean section, and care of the mom and newborn couplet after delivery. Additional opportunities exist to hone and enhance skills in breastfeeding/lactation, fetal monitoring, bereavement training, OR training, and potential cross-training to the neonatal unit. With self-scheduling and experienced management, experience a highly fulfilling specialty of obstetrics in a flexible, teamwork-based environment. The RN administers culturally sensitive nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with ANA standards, the New Jersey Practice Act, The Joint Commission, professional standards, and established hospital and Nursing Department policies and procedures, all grounded in evidence-based nursing practice. As circulator, demonstrates an ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and possible need for additional instruments and supplies. Supports operations by demonstrating ability and willingness to float between units as an RN and provides 1:1 patient observation when deemed necessary Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing required Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 3 years of hire. Graduate of CSMC Residency program, OR Minimum of 1 year LDRP RN experience required, OR 2 years RN experience in Med/Surg or Critical Care. Related experience preferred. Current NJ RN License required. CPR Certification required. ACLS required prior to starting Labor and Delivery orientation. CSMC IV Certification to be achieved within the first year and maintained thereafter. NRP Certification to be achieved within the first year and maintained thereafter. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association (NHA), or its successor, The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association (CAHEA), or its successor; Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or its successor; or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The educational program shall include, at a minimum, 330 clock hours of instruction and shall encompass training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and instruction and demonstration in: pertinent anatomy and physiology appropriate to injection procedures; choice of equipment; proper technique, including sterile technique; hazards and complications; and emergency procedures. Must maintain current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), the National Certification Medical Association (NCMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or any other recognized certifying body approved by the board.
