Job Description The Outpatient Oncology Clinical Nurse II serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an adult Oncology outpatient population. This role will be focused on, but not limited to, Head & Neck Oncology patients. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) provides state-of-the-art critical care to children with congenital and acquired heart disease. We also care for adults with congenital heart disease in the immediate post-operative period. Our facility is one of the largest and most technologically advanced units dedicated to the care of critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in the western United States. We care for more than 750 patients each year. Our CVICU is currently a 29-bed unit with plans to expand to 36 beds in the next few years. We are a post-surgical and cardiac medical unit. Our Pediatric Heart Transplant program is complemented by the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) program. PACT provides artificial circulatory assist devices as alternatives to or bridges to transplant. These include ECMO, the Berlin Heart and Heart Mate. We are one of the most experienced teams nationally in the care of these complex patients. Our APP team is currently made up of 19 highly qualified NP’s and PA’s. The Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Nurse Practitioner has in-depth knowledge in the neurosciences, vascular disease, hemorrhage management, and genetic evaluation. Under the direction of the Program Directors of the UCSF HHT Center of Excellence, the HHT Nurse Practitioner has responsibilities in clinical practice, education, consultation, research, utilization review and leadership within the HHT Center of Excellence and the Medical Center. HHT is a multisystem genetic disorder occurring in about 1/5000 individuals. The vascular malformations that accompany HHT can result in brain hemorrhage, pulmonary hemorrhage, epistaxis (nosebleeds), gastrointestinal bleeding, and chronic anemia.
