Essential Duties And Responsibilities Develops, establishes and implements the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of the Nursing Department. Organizes the Nursing Department to delineate authority, functional responsibilities and lines of communication. Coordinates functions of nursing services with other disciplines, collaborates with administrative staff, other department staff and representatives of allied groups in planning services. Determines staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develops procedures to maintain an adequate, competent nursing staff. Maintains a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients. Maintains up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluates their effectiveness. Establishes an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports. Directs the preparation of the personnel, equipment and supply budgets for the Nursing Department. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
