Description Part Time Dispensing Nurse – LPN/LVN BAART Program i s looking for a detail oriented and empathetic Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse to dispense prescribed medications as part of a treatment team in partnership with Physicians and Nursing Supervisors. The dispensing nurse also shares responsibility of maintaining dispensing equipment, managing medication inventory and reporting patient treatment information . An ideal dispensing nurse candidate works cooperatively with supervisory counseling staff and demonstrates a non-judgmental and accepting attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder . Responsibilities: Administer daily medication to patients in accordance with program policy and medical protocols . Us e automated dispensing system (s) , calibrate pump and maintain dispensing equipment Produce and maintain appropriate records and reports as required by C ompany protocol , Federal and State Regulations Ensure compliance with security standards for the distribution and storage of controlled substances as set forth in the Code of Federal regulations Order, receive and stock medication in accordance with DEA and State regulations. (If granted Power of Attorney) Provide daily assessment of patients Assist Nursing Supervisor to orient new nursing staff Other related duties as determined by supervisor Qualifications: Current & good standing LPN /LVN license in the State of Vermont Current CPR certification required EMR & computer proficiency desired Experience in chemical dependency preferred, self-motivated and directed, must have a positive attitude towa rd individuals in substance abuse treatment . Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check . Salary Range: Salary ranges from $27.00 to $31.00 an hour. This position entails licensed practical nursing work involving the care and treatment of residents in a long-term care setting, working an assigned shift. Supervision is exercised over Licensed Nursing Assistants. Duties are performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. We have a great team at VVH with providers available on-site Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and by phone other times and holidays. Environmental Factors Duties are performed in a long-term care and residential care setting. Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift. Duties require regular and direct interaction with residents with varying degrees of physical and mental illness, dementia, infectious diseases, severe physical and mental limitations, and residents who may display unpredictable verbal, physical, or aggressive behaviors. Minimum Qualifications Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license. DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Registered Nurse is the designation given to an individual who is licensed to practice professional nursing, holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, is a graduate of an approved school for professional nursing, and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse pursuant to M.G.L. c.112. Included in such responsibility is providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort, of those they serve. The Registered Professional Nurse functions as a health care team leader responsible for the safe delivery of patient-centered, goal oriented care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Professional Nurse also directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) Experience: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Has a thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures. Education and Training: Associates Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred. License, Certification & Registration: RN - Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts BLS ACLS within 6 months of hire. Other Requirements: Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations. Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met. Other Addendum(s) Requirements: Two years previous either medical/surgical or ED experience preferred. CPR required. ACLS within 6 months, TNCC, PALS required within one year. IV experience preferred. May be required to float to perioperative services pre/post areas at NARH and med/surg and ED at other BHS campuses.
