Under direction from registered nurses or physicians, treats patients as directed. Prepares individuals for or assists with examinations and treatments. Gathers urine, stool, and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Maintains charts and other records of individuals’ conditions and treatments. Attends to individuals’ personal hygiene and daily living tasks, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and grooming; changes wound dressings to prevent infection. Moves, positions, lifts, and transports individuals to deliver individuals to appropriate treatment areas, and to make individuals comfortable. Talks with individuals, listens to concerns and responses, and encourages individuals to fully cooperate and participate in treatment and rehabilitation activities. Educates and counsels individuals regarding health, medications, procedures, and treatment goals. Performs housekeeping tasks, such as changing linens, and may assist other staff in cleaning activities. Monitors supply inventories and completes requisition forms to ensure adequate supply levels.
