Description Kindred Hospital Denver and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is an all-private room 68-bed hospital located on one of Denver’s important medical campuses, just east of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. With 55 long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) beds, we offer the same in depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. Our 13-bed ARU is designed for people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment or illness and like the LTACH, we partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. Our care has touched individuals from the Front Range, the western slopes of Colorado, and throughout the country. Job Summary Under direct supervision of Registered Nurse, provides nursing care within the scope of licensure for assigned patients according to established nursing standards and hospital policies and procedures. Essential Functions Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse administers medication, performs treatments and patient care responsibilities as prescribed. Consults with and keeps Registered Nurse informed of activities, symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient’s condition with regard to assigned patients. Provides appropriate pain management techniques and educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Administers medication following the five rights of medication administration within scope of practice. Assists with the rehabilitation and treatment of patients in accordance with the medical plan of care, updates, and revises plan of care under the supervision of Registered Nurse. Assists physicians with examinations, treatments and special procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills as directed by the Registered Nurse. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with Social Services/Discharge Planner regarding both in-hospital and post discharge needs. Interprets data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Basic computer knowledge. Able to organized tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situations. Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Must have good and regular attendance. Must read, write and speak fluent English. Approximate percent of time required to travel: 0% Performs other related duties as assigned. Pay Range: $27.18-$34.47/hr. Conducts diagnostic testing such as EKGs and basic lab tests, ensuring proper sample collection and documentation. Ensures timely follow-up with patients by responding to portal messages, phone calls, and test results, adhering to clinic communication policies. Educates patients and their families on treatment plans, medication management, and preventative care, utilizing materials approved by providers. Collaborates with healthcare providers to support patient care plans, advocating for patient health and well-being. Maintains a clean and sanitized clinic environment, including equipment and hazardous materials disposal per infection control protocols. Monitors and updates daily logs, such as narcotics, refrigerator temperatures, vaccines, and expiration dates, ensuring compliance with clinic policies. Serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and families, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and adherence to privacy laws, including HIPAA. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications 0-2 years experience in a clinical or outpatient setting required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in direct patient care, including medication administration and diagnostic testing. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Knowledge of electronic medical record systems for accurate and timely documentation. Understanding of infection control protocols and clinic safety standards.
