South Pointe Hospital’s 7th Floor Med/Surg and Observation Unit focuses on healing and surgery while providing comprehensive care and services to adults with a wide variety of diagnoses, such as chest pain, stomach pain, or generalized weakness. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers with providing exceptional care to patients from initial introduction to discharge. A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. OR 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Job Description Summary Ashley River Tower (ART) perioperative services are located on the fourth floor of the ART building. The ART PACU is a 12-bed unit that provides post-operative care for a diverse population of adult outpatient and inpatient surgeries through various surgical service lines. These include general, plastics, oncology, cardiac, interventional cardiology, thoracic, vascular, colorectal, bariatric, and robotics. ART PACU is open 24/7 except Sunday night, the unit is closed from 7:30pm- 7:30am, with normal Operating Room hours from 7:00am-7:30pm Monday- Friday. PACU call teams are in place Friday PM-Monday AM for add-on cases on the weekends. We provide family centered care to pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery patients ranging in age from newborn to young adult. 12 East is a 32-bed Pediatric Acute Care Unit that provides comprehensive care with a primary focus on gastrointestinal (GI), pulmonary, pediatric surgery, pediatric burn, and neonatal populations. Qualifications EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. EXPERIENCE Medical-surgical nursing, telemetry experience preferred. Proficient in use of computer software to include electronic patient records. Must have ability to use internet for literature searches regarding care for patients. LICENSURE Valid State of Rhode Island Registered Nurse License, BLS required. ACLS optional. SPECIAL SKILLS Hospital and unit based orientation provided PHYSICAL DEMAND Exposure to bodily fluids and biotherapy. Bending, carrying items < 25 pounds, sitting/on phone for longer periods of time.
