WOUND NP ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities. Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with NH Law. Order, review, and/or follow-up with treatments and diagnostic testing. Communicate with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed to discuss changes in condition. and/or the care plan. Collaborate with the primary care physician. WOUND NP QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of New Hampshire. Board Certification. DEA licensure (Optional) Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties. Clinical background of wound care; including but not limited to chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds Must be comfortable with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers. Must be comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc. Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/ reducing devices Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified Experience working in a long-term care setting. The nurse practitioner will help perform new patient consultations as well as follow up evaluations for patients with a full range of problem healing wounds, including follow-up for wounds seen in our local EDs and urgent care clinics. Wound Care NP Education, Certifications, and Skills

To become a wound care nurse practitioner, you first need to establish your credentials as a nurse practitioner, which is a type of advanced practice registered nurse. This means obtaining degrees beyond a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), such as a master of science in nursing (MSN) or a doctor of nursing practice (DNP).
