Surround yourself with people who care about making a difference – come join us! We have an exciting opportunity for a Part-time, Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) to join Ramapo Ridge. Under the direction of the RN, the Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) performs the activities related to the implementation of nursing care plans and the nursing standards, policies and procedures. The PNA is responsible for contributing to the development, evaluation and reassessment of care plans through observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and physical status. The PNA is also responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the safe and therapeutic environment of the unit. The individual is competent to care for patients in the following age groups: adult (ages 19 - 64) and geriatric (ages 65 +). Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of the Christian Health Care Center. Competencies: Supervises or assists in after meal care (removing trays, encouraging patients in brushing teeth, washing up, etc.). Serves food trays. Assists with feeding as indicated. Assists patients in preparing for activity and social programs, as per unit program schedules. Answers call bells promptly. Changes bed linens. Assists or supervises patients to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed. Reports all changes in the patient's condition to the Charge/Staff Nurse as soon as practical. Keeps floors dry. Reports spills immediately. Maintains intake and output records as instructed. Greets and escorts patient to his/her room. Informs the Charge/Staff Nurse of equipment and supply needs. Records all supplies and equipment utilized for appropriate procedures to Charge/Staff Nurse. Assists in transporting patients to/from appointments, activities and social programs, etc. as necessary/assigned. Maintains the confidentiality of all patient care information. Schedule: Part-time, 3pm - 11pm, Every other weekend. Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Qualifications: Prior experience in a health care facility. Experience in a psychiatric facility preferred. How you make a difference The Psychiatric Registered Nurse will work under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA)/Program Manager (PM) or higher medical professional to develop, initiate and coordinate patient care plans in a psychiatric setting. They will collaborate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care to patients. Key Responsibilities • Utilize the nursing process to provide quality patient care by completing assessments, analyzing data, and administering medication according to established standards.• Respond to psychiatric emergencies, assess for suicide ideation, and manage appropriate risk levels.• Communicate with healthcare staff regarding patient mental health status, document findings in patient health records, and provide crisis intervention and counseling as required.• Coordinate activities of assigned shift, respond to intake area requests, and maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment.• Initiate lifesaving measures, identify medical emergencies, and arrange transportation to hospital as needed. Additionally, may participate in interviewing and training new staff and be responsible for evaluating and training direct reports. Additional Details This position will cover vacations and time off for our current Psych RN. The position works within state guidelines to support consistent, high-quality psychiatric services across the facility. Clinical consultation and supervision are sought as required under applicable collaborative practice requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care while exercising independent medical judgment. Monitor and manage psychotropic medications, including effectiveness, side effects, and required follow-up. Collaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services. Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage. Support crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice. Additional Details Tuesdays and Thursdays 8a-12p + on-call Qualifications & Requirements Education Master in Science of Nursing or Post-Master’s Certificate from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan. Experience Minimum one (1) year of experience as a PMHNP required, or may be waived if approved by Vice President of Advanced Practice Program. Corrections experience in a PMHNP role preferred. Licenses/Certifications Unrestricted current license to practice as a PMHNP in the state of practice. Current board certification as a PMHNP. Current DEA Registration (unless Chief Psychiatric Officer determines it as optional). Current BLS certification.
