A Brief Overview Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Registered Nurse for their outpatient Pulmonary department. This position will be Monday-Friday and will require time at the Buerger Center and King of Prussia Specialty Care Center. The shift and location will be based off of the operational need. Pediatric and/or Pulmonary experience is preferred. A clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family centered nursing. Provides safe nursing care to the general division population with minimal guidance, and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care. Responsible for day-to-day patient care, assessment and treatment in an outpatient office and comply with the administrative policies and clinical protocols as outlined in policy and procedure manual. Administratively responsible to the Site Manager and Ambulatory Nursing Director for nursing practice issues. What you will do Practice Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Synthesizes patient assessment data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with care team. Collaborates with family, team members and other caregivers to initiate/update plan of care, patient/family education. Care for all ages -infancy to early adulthood. Common diagnoses treated on the unit include Leukemia, Lymphoma, Solid Organ Tumors, Neuro Oncology disease processes which may result in Stem Cell Transplant. The Clinical Nurse practices at the level of an advanced beginner to expert practitioner of professional nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. Position Responsibilities: • Performs an assessment of the patient, leading to development, implementation and evaluation of a plan of care. • Administers, monitors and documents therapeutic interventions and regimes. • Effectively manages rapidly changing situations. • Participates in clinical decision-making. • Educates patient and family/responsible party regarding disease process, individual care needs, wellness, safety issues, etc. • Delegates and monitors care rendered by other members of nursing department and healthcare team. • Demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice. • Participates in orientation, education and development of healthcare team. • Identifies and participates in the performance improvement activities. • Maintains professional and departmental level competencies. Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required: Must have valid NJ RN License. Approved licenses must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board. Refer to the Educational/Regulatory Requirement (Department Specific) policy in the Nursing Administrative Manual. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures and standards. Perfects skills and stays abreast of current nursing practice through on-going education, journals, etc. Must have strong communication skills. Must be able to coordinate efforts of a team of care providers.
