Overview PREOP/GI Clinical Role – Position Summary & Responsibilities The PREOP/GI role is a dynamic, multi‑functional clinical position responsible for supporting patients and providers throughout the perioperative and procedural continuum. Primary Responsibilities 1. GI Procedure Support (GI Teching) Assist the GI physician during procedures. Maintain and manage endoscopy equipment, including holding scopes and assisting during procedural steps. Perform scope cleaning and reprocessing tasks according to established standards and infection control guidelines. Circulating Nurse/Tech Responsibilities Circulate GI, surgical, and bronchoscopy cases as assigned. Assist the anesthesiologist with airway management and patient positioning. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience.
