The unit also manages status epilepticus, hypotension, gastrointestinal bleeding (including use of rapid infusers and massive transfusion protocols), DIC , intentional and unintentional overdoses , cardiac arrest patients (with or without targeted temperature management), and acute or chronic renal failure requiring HD, PD, or CRRT . Post‑operative patients needing enhanced monitoring are also frequently admitted.
