Your Role on the Team Position Summary The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse responsibilities include attending births, monitor the health of newborns directly after birth, administering care to newborn infants residing in the NICU, and providing education/support to families as needed. The NICU Nurse must maintain a high level in quality, service, critical nursing skills and critical thinking. The NICU Nurse must be skilled in managing complex medical cases and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Clinical Nurse I – Critical Care provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act for assigned patients in a critical care unit including Neuro ICU, CCU, and Sub ICU. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions.
