Description Join Our New Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) Team The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) is a 13-bed unit within our Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. Here, we provide advanced, specialized care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents with complex heart conditions. Our dedicated team includes highly skilled nurses and expert intensivists who work collaboratively using an interdisciplinary approach to deliver exceptional care. We are deeply committed to fostering a compassionate, family-centered environment that supports both our patients and their loved ones. As a PCICU nurse, you will receive cross-training to care for critically ill pediatric medical and surgical patients, broadening your expertise. Schedule: 36hrs/wk (12 hour shifts) with night, day, and weekend rotations. A resume outlining clinical rotations in nursing school and a cover letter attached to the application are strongly encouraged. It is expected that candidates will have their North Carolina RN license prior to their start date. Nurses who have less than 6 months of RN experience and have graduated less than 12 months before their anticipated start date will qualify for the UNC Medical Center New Graduate Residency program. This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse. Overview: Job Description Summary: Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention as they assist patients and families to move rapidly, uneventfully, safely, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care. Delegates, oversees and provides quality, safe and developmentally appropriate patient care. Job Description: Essential Functions: Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
