Description 5 East is a 15 - bed Acute Burn and Wound Unit and we function as an extension of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. We care for adult patients who have a burn injury and/or other type of complex wounds. The burn injuries on our unit are acute and generally less than 20% of total body surface area. We provide burn and wound care to these patients from the acute through rehabilitative phase. This is a temporary exception that will eventually be lifted by CMS. When this occurs, PCAs will no longer qualify for this role at Bronson Commons. It is highly encouraged that any PCAs hired at Bronson Commons during this temporary exception period pursue CNA certification. Bronson will support and guide PCAs through the process.
