Job Description The Division of Neuro-Oncology here at UCSF cares for patients with central nervous system tumors (CNS brain tumors) from diagnosis, through all stages of their illness, including hospice and death. Approximately 2000 patients per year are seen in the outpatient clinic. Patients are treated with standard of care therapies as well as research protocols. This position will work with the staff of Neuro-Oncology: neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurses (CNII/CNIII), and clinical research associates in caring for this patient population under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager RN. The primary responsibility of the Neuro-Oncology CN II is to provide comprehensive care for all brain tumor patients being followed by the Division of Neuro-Oncology here at UCSF. He/she will work closely with the Nurse Practitioners, CNII, CNIII, physicians, both neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists, who see and care for patients with CNS tumors in clinic. He/she will assist in coordinating and overseeing the care of this patient population as they prepare for a variety of treatments, as well as those who enroll in clinical trials. In addition to providing direct and indirect patient care, the Neuro-Oncology CNII will assist in protocol development, working with the study PI, lead Research Nurse/Project Manager, Research Manager, and Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. He/she will also serve as a resource for UCSF and the community, providing education on Neuro-Oncology protocols, as well as care of the patient with a brain tumor and related topics. Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance.
