Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit. Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider card or must obtain within six (6) months of hire. Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance. Provides input to decision-makers on human resources matters. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions. Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies. Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals. Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments. Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services. Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or related area. ACLS and/or UCSD ART certification. OCN. Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience. Experience supervising in a large clinic and/or infusion environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Clinical Nurse III – MedSurg role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions.
