A Brief Overview Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a part time Urgent Care Nurse. This part time position is scheduled for 20 hours per week and includes a weekend rotation every three weeks. Holiday requirements include one summer holiday, one winter holiday eve, and one winter holiday day annually. This position requires flexibility to provide coverage at the King of Prussia and/or Bucks County Urgent Care locations based on clinical and operational needs. Pediatric, urgent care, and/or emergency medicine experience is preferred. The Urgent Care Nurse is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family-centered nursing. The nurse at this level provides safe nursing care to the general unit population with minimal guidance and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care. What you will do Nursing Practice Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Synthesizes patient assessment data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with care team. Major Duties and Responsibilities Directs the daily activities of the licensed practical/vocational nurse and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. Provides direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, IV administration, etc. in accordance with current policies and procedures, as assigned. Performs rounds to ensure resident needs are being met and personnel are performing their assigned duties. Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed to ensure residents’ needs are holistically met. Participates in management team meetings as indicated to discuss census changes, resident changes in status or care need, or complaints or concerns. May assist in evaluating work performance of nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies and as directed. Informs appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and files grievances as necessary. Reports any incidents or unusual occurrences to the unit manager, assistant director or nursing or director of nursing and participates in the investigative process as needed. Job Description The PICU is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE. This is a 36hrs/wk, rotating shift position. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Health, Delaware is a 24-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years preferred. Current Delaware or Multistate Compact License Must be CPR certified by the American Heart Association. PALS and ACLS preferred. Major Duties and Responsibilities Directs the daily activities of the licensed practical/vocational nurse and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures.
