How you make a difference The LVN Travel supports the delivery of patient care within assigned correctional healthcare settings as part of a traveling team. This role assists with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The position guides patient teaching and clinical activities based on demonstrated competencies and scope of practice. This role adapts to different clinical environments while supporting safe, compliant, and consistent care delivery. Key Responsibilities Assist with patient assessment, care planning, and implementation of individualized treatment programs under RN supervision. Administer medications, obtain diagnostic tests, and carry out medical plans according to practitioner orders and protocols. Provide clinical care and respond to health emergencies using established procedures, safety techniques, and standard precautions. Document nursing encounters and communicate patient information to healthcare providers and staff. Support daily clinical operations, including controlled substance counts and assisting with procedures as needed. Additional Details As a Travel Nurse you'll visit various Wellpath sites across California such as Shasta, Placer, San Luis Obispo, and Fresno. Shifts vary by location, but most shifts are 12-hour days or nights, with some 8-hour options and weekend rotations depending on the site. Candidates must hold an active California nursing license in good standing and have at least three years of nursing experience and 1 year of correctional experience. LVN's range from $40-45 per hour all travel and incidentals are covered or reimbursed. How you make a difference The Nurse Practitioner provides on-site medical services by examining referred patients, conducting clinics, rounds, and responding to urgent and emergency situations. The role delivers ongoing medical care by diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatment plans, managing chronic care, and providing Medication Assisted Treatment services, including induction, follow-up, and medication management. The position documents care, orders and interprets labs, adheres to established policies and formularies, and supports continuity and standards of care within the facility. Key Responsibilities Examine patients, conduct sick call, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds, and respond to health emergencies. Diagnose conditions, prescribe and manage treatment plans, and provide ongoing medical and MAT-related care. Conduct MAT assessments, inductions, follow-up appointments, and manage medication continuation and titration. Order and interpret laboratory tests and drug screens and utilize appropriate in-house and referral resources. Document patient encounters, maintain confidentiality, and comply with established policies, procedures, and standards of care. Additional Details Hours are: 7a-5:30p Candidates should be comfortable with substance withdrawal management, partnering with psych NP's and behavioral health staff, infectious disease management, MAT and standardized protocols (Title 15/NCCHC/ACA). In addition, candidates should feel comfortable doing suturing, incision and draining (abscesses are extremely common), basic wound care and debridement, splinting/minor fracture management, EKG interpretation, and emergency response (codes and overdoses) Qualifications & Requirements Education A graduate of an accredited school of nursing An advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Experience Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience and corrections experience is preferred. Must have the patience and tact to deal with the inmate population and ability to work effectively in the corrections environment. Scheduling flexibility is also required to be able to rotate hours and shifts, if needed, and to be called during emergency situations to provide coverage. How you make a difference The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides assistance and collects data in the delivery of patient care in a correctional setting, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. As part of this role, the LVN directs and guides patient teaching and activities in accordance with their education, demonstrated competencies, and the Nursing Practice Act (NPA). The LVN works closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care and compliance with established policies and procedures. Administer medications and implement medical plans as directed by the Health Care Practitioner, utilizing proper techniques and procedures. How you make a difference As a Physician's Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will work under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher medical professional, and assist the Physician in providing medical care and treatment to the inmate population, which includes addressing behavioral health disorders. You will coordinate patient care plans by conducting assessments, developing plans, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes, all while working collaboratively with the healthcare team and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations at the agency, local, state, and federal levels. Key Responsibilities • Conduct daily sick call, carry out treatments, and follow standardized procedures and protocols.• Provide emergency care for identified medical emergencies and coordinate patient transfers to appropriate facilities.• Perform minor surgical procedures, repair lacerations, and remove sutures.• Treat and manage non-psychotic behavioral health disorders and provide ongoing care for patients on maintenance doses of non-psychotic medications.• Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities, document findings using the S.O.A.P.E. method, and attend quarterly Quality Management meetings.
