Job Summary Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for obtaining complete and comprehensive patient histories, performing physical examinations, writing orders, responding to patient questions, and providing information to patients and their families. Exercises judgment within their areas of competence provided that a member of the supervising physician team shall have the ultimate responsibility for patient care. Job Responsibilities Order, perform and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic and invasive procedures as appropriate. Following physician observation and approval of technique, perform therapeutic or corrective measures as well as some outpatient family medicine procedures as needed. Refer patients to appropriate specialists, services, and community resources (i.e. physical therapy, other subspecialists and social services). Provide preventative care and counseling on health and wellness related conditions. Prescribe appropriate medications as needed. The supervising physician or physician designee reviews all patient encounters no later than (72) seventy-two hours after the APP has seen the patient. Provides safe and comprehensive age-appropriate nursing care according to state regulations and hospital policy and procedure. Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress toward problem resolution. Establish care priorities based on patient problems; communicate with staff, patient problem/concerns/changes in condition. Notify physician promptly regarding concerns. Must be proficient in medication administration, including IV therapy, as evidenced by lack of medication errors. Reports medication errors. Perform procedures accurately, completely, timely and safely according to established policy and procedure and physician orders. Provide care with minimal supervision in a timely manner. Maintains a safe environment for patients. Uses safety precautions appropriately. Initiates emergency resuscitation measure according to resuscitation protocols. Demonstrates understanding and utilization of Standard Precautions, asepsis and infection control procedures. Maintains strict confidentiality according to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital’s HIPAA policy. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for establishing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships with all staff members and demonstrate support of administration.
