Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services. Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, critical events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills. Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making. Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives. Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes. Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nursing required. This is a fixed term position for 6 months. General surgery patients range from premature infants to young adults. Common conditions seen include emergency, acute, and chronic surgical conditions, infant and congenital surgical conditions, colorectal and intestinal conditions, tumors, and vascular lesions and vascular associated syndromes. The general surgery department also has numerous specialty outpatient programs including aerodigestive and airway reconstruction center, adolescent bariatric surgery, chest wall program, colorectal and bowel management program, intestinal failure and short gut program, and pilonidal disease program. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in the whole spectrum of surgical patient care from outpatient clinical evaluation, specialty clinic evaluation, and inpatient rounding and management of post/preoperative patients. Department Description The Adult Internal Medicine Unit cares for medicine patients ranging from young adults to the elderly presenting with a wide variety of diagnoses. Patients found on this unit are often admitted for acute exacerbations of complex chronic conditions with a focus on pulmonary, gastrointestinal, sickle cell, renal failure, medical-psychological, and endocrine conditions. In addition, patients are admitted for diagnostic work-up and treatment of new-onset infectious disease processes. Continuous video camera monitoring and cardiac telemetry are also available, if needed, to provide comprehensive, safe patient care. Collaboration between our physician colleagues (teaching services and attending services) and multidisciplinary teams contributes to the high functioning teamwork found on this unit. The unit is also supported by the Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), ACE RN Program Coordinator, Medical/Surgical CNS/Educators and an Oncology CNS. This cohesive team approach allows our nurses to provide a high standard of innovative care to patients. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) is a 18-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. The TCU provides care to patients with a moderate to high complexity of disease such as those recovering from solid organ transplantation, titration of anticoagulant therapy and other infusion, and post-operative specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery). The hospice aide is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. Requirements 1. The Hospice Aide performs personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. Providing patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality. 3. Giving personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assigned. 4. The Hospice Aide assists in dressing and undressing patients as assigned. 5. Respectful of patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs. Must have both a CNA and HHA license
