Rotating - 10 Hour (United States of America) Position Overview: We are actively looking for a dedicated full-time Non-Malignant Hematology Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA) to become a valuable member of our healthcare team. This role encompasses a rotating 4 day work week schedule and 1-2 weekends/month with part time inpatient hematology consults and part time ambulatory clinic time focused on building a sickle cell disease program. As a NP/PA in this position, your primary responsibility will be to contribute your expertise to our inpatient Classical Hematology consult service as well as spend 1-2 days a week in clinic managing sickle cell disease patients. You will be actively involved in managing patients with benign hematologic disorders, including various classical hematology pathologies, including but not limited to sickle cell disease and patients transitioning from in-patient to out-patient care. Additionally, this role offers a unique opportunity for professional flexibility with rotating days that could include days off during the week when working weekends. This enables you to provide collaborative and independent care to patients, ensuring comprehensive and continuous support for those with benign hematologic disorders. Responsibilities: Collaborative Patient Care: Working alongside the Attending Physician, NPs and PAs will provide comprehensive care to patients with non-malignant hematologic disorders. This includes conducting thorough history and physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic studies, lab results, radiology studies, and pathology reports. Treatment Planning: The NP/PA will be responsible for developing treatment plans in collaboration with the physician. They will manage acute problems arising from therapy and primary diagnoses, as well as initiate and adjust therapy orders in collaboration with the physician. These protocols will be determined by area of specialty. 3. Practice Agreements Practice agreements shall include provisions for the following: a. Patient Assignment Patients are assigned to the Nurse Practitioner or physician according to the needs of the patient. b. Diagnostic Tests Laboratory tests may be ordered according to the initial work-up guidelines found in the reference protocol. Collaboration is not necessary for routine diagnostic procedures. However, consultation and documentation should be completed before more extensive tests are ordered, e.g., nuclear medicine tests, MRI, CT scan, IVP, etc. c. Consultation Nurse Practitioners consult with and refer patients to subspecialty clinics as needed. d. Prescriptive Practice Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications according to the New York State Laws and Regulations for prescription writing and record-keeping (see Appendix). e. Charting Nurse Practitioners are responsible for documenting findings, consultations and plans of care in the patients' medical records. . Job Summary: The Medical Director is responsible for supporting staff by providing training, clinical consultation, and clinical case review for members. Essential Functions: Provide prior authorization medical reviews, consultation and clinical review services Participate in peer-to-peer discussions Provide provider education, training, data sharing, performance evaluations and orientation to the plan Conduct clinical reviews for designated CareSource members as requested Provide physician review for clinical appeals cases Participate in the evaluation and investigations of cases suspected of fraud, abuse, and quality of care concerns Participate in development of policies and procedures Participates in quality improvement initiatives, case management activities and member safety activities (i.e. incident management Provide cross-coverage for other Medical Directors and/or markets, as needed Oversight and quality improvement activities associated with case management activities Assist in the review of utilization data to identify variances in patterns, and provide feedback and education to MCP staff and providers as appropriate Participate in the development, implementation and revision of the clinical care standards and practice guidelines ensuring compliance with nationally accepted quality standards Participate in the development, implementation and revision of the Quality Improvement Plan and corporate level quality initiatives Collaborate with market/product leaders to help define market strategy Community collaborative participation Support of regulatory and accreditation functions (eg.
