About Us: Our Pediatric Oncology Clinic is one of the leading pediatric cancer facilities on the West Coast, offers specialized services for a wide range of cancer diagnoses. As the sole provider of pediatric oncology services between Los Angeles and the Bay Area, we see approximately 40 outpatient visits daily and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to each patient we treat. Our Cancer and Blood Disorders Center consistently ranks in the top 5 to 8 percent globally in patient enrollments for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest organization focused on childhood and adolescent cancer research. Our dedicated team conducts a wide range of treatments, from chemotherapy and immune suppressant medication to laser therapy, blood transfusions, bone marrow aspiration and biopsies, lumbar punctures, chemotherapy administration in the cerebrospinal fluid, and radiation. Our outpatient unit houses treatment rooms, an infusion center, and playroom, all designed for family centered care. Position Highlights: Job Type: Infection Preventionist RN Location: Community Hospital Schedule: Full-Time Responsibilities: The IP role involves professional responsibilities in case finding, surveillance, analysis and interpretation, reporting, inspection, education, consultation, and recommendations to prevent and control infections. Responsible for assuring that CH meets Infection Prevention Standards applied by external agencies such as the CDC, CMS, the Joint Commission, WHO, APIC, OSHA and others. Conduct on-going surveillance using accredited external agency criteria pertinent to IP and supports epidemiological studies of specific problems or problem areas to determine the source of the problem. Develop, update and initiate isolations techniques and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice, rules, and regulations; ensure adherence with isolation techniques and procedures to provide optimum care to patients with healthcare acquired infections. Keeps CH facilities and environmental services informed of infection prevention activities and changes in policies and procedures, accordingly. Collaborates with Occ Health and department for individuals with potential exposures or actual exposures to infection or disease processes. Advise in annual requirements for TB testing, Hepatitis immunization of staff, annual influenza immunization for staff and assessing staff immunization status. Establishes educational requirements for employees regarding infection prevention and adjusts as needed to accommodate departmental requirements, working collaboratively with the education department to facilitate infection prevention education for CH.
