Call after working hours on departmental rotating basis. Responsibilities: Plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and comfortable recovery for patients in the post-anesthesia phase, contributing to the overall success of the surgical process through attentive and specialized care. Observes and monitors post-operative patients' levels of consciousness and overall status during recovery from anesthesia. Measures and records vital signs to assess patients’ recovery progress. Observes for and addresses any signs of side effects from anesthesia medication. Manages and treats post-operative symptoms, including pain and nausea. Updates and maintains accurate charts, patient files, and medical records. Collaborates with the medical team to coordinate post-operative care and facilitate timely specialized interventions. Provides comfort and reassurance to patients and their families, addressing any concerns and answering questions. Educates patients and their families about post-surgery care and discharge. Primary Responsibilities: Assess patient status throughout the episode of care Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care by implementing: Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient’s condition and response to care. Perform all other duties as assigned . Qualifications Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. One year of PACU experience preferred. Current state licensure to practice within good standings. Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification. Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification. Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
