Overview The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care (as competency demonstrates). This care utilizes the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/ tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associated, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the RN manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures Qualifications Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups. Required Education: Associate's Degree Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. New hires or transfers into in the position between August 1, 2013 and June 13, 2017 must abide with the conditions in his or her offer letter and the verbiage in the job description signed upon hire or transfer into the position. Charge Preceptor - RN (High Risk Perinatal)

Responsibilities As a Charge Nurse, coordinates daily activities and distribution of work in area during scheduled shift; as a Preceptor Nurse, acts as a professional educator and resource for new employees, demonstrating clinical expertise and competence. The approximate amount of overall participation in direct patient care activities is 80% and Charge‑Preceptor duties is 20%. The range of roles between Charge and Preceptor may vary dependent upon patient acuity and volume issues. Works with a unit specific patient population. Care and/or services will be provided to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This position is required to set priorities based on the situation at hand, and is a combination of direct patient care, management (charge), and education (preceptor) roles with responsibility for a unit during an eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED: BSN degree Two (2) years recent experience in current clinical specialty (i.e., critical care, surgical services, diabetes education, radiology, etc.) Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
