As an Full Time Inpatient Nurse Tech, you will work 7a-7p, including one Saturday a month. This position will work Monday - Friday the first week of employment, 8-hour day shifts. The Nurse Technician holds a safety sensitive position and is a competent paraprofessional which assists the registered nurses by assuming responsibility and accountability for direct and indirect patient care. He/she may assist with activities, personal care, comfort measures, maintenance of a safe and clean environment, and certain test/procedures done to a specific patient population (dependent on area) under the direction and supervision of a RN. Supports the nursing and medical staff in an effort to provide optimum patient outcomes. What’s required of you? High school graduate or equivalent. Maintains current competency as a Nurse Technician as outlined in the department’s competency program. Basic Life Support certification prior to start date, or class to be taken at OSH within 60 days free of charge. Occupational Experience: Zero to six months prior to experience as a Nurse Aide in a healthcare environment, or completion of a Nurse Aide or EMT training program preferred. Specialty Knowledge Skills: Cognitive, technical and interpersonal skills required to deliver direct and indirect care under the direction of a RN. Cooperation and strong “team” focus required. Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. What qualifications you will need: Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date (RN) Registered Nurse Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
