Alters activities/behaviors ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., pediatric, adolescent, adult, elderly) • Documents assessments, and all other nursing activities (including medication administration) legally, legibly, concisely, descriptively per policy/procedure. Monitors follow-up of tests and lab studies done and notifies provider. • Teaches patient/significant other appropriate health information and shares written informational material if available. Documentation includes evidence of appropriate patient/significant other teaching, and understanding of these instructions is documented in the medical record. • Integrates cultural/population specific diversity needs into patient care as well as integrating physiological, psychological and cultural needs. • Demonstrates effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills in working with staff, patients/families, providers, other departments and external contacts. • Delegates tasks appropriately, based on patient needs and staff skill sets. • Able to supervise other staff, and assume supervisory functions in the absence of the Charge Nurse/Clinic Manager. • Effectively acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and formal students.
