RNs scrub and circulate through each service line during a 6-month orientation period and can complete extra rotations on specialty call teams to gain proficiency and join the team. A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., with on-call requirements. This position may require an earlier or later start time, based on the needs of the department. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population. Assessments: complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. Planning: develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care, coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care and serve as a patient advocate. Implementation: provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document. Evaluation: participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process.
