Job Description Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic patient care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams, carrying out established nursing procedures and performing related duties as required. Provides care for patients with complex needs under appropriate guidance and assists in the management of care delivered by other members of the nursing team. The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as part of the interdisciplinary team caring for patients undergoing procedures or examinations in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) and/or Cardiology Department across all sites. Responsibilities include preparing patients prior to radiologic procedures, supporting care during procedures, and providing post-procedural care. The RN also assists in the management of patient care during moderate sedation and anesthesia cases. This role requires a dedicated professional committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to orient and work across all UCSF Medical Center locations. Act as a consultant to external health care personnel about clinical apheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, prior to and during procedures, utilizing the nursing process, laboratory testing results, and other clinically significant procedures. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses at a variety of hospitals to arrange therapeutic apheresis treatments and facilitate coordinated care. Evaluate patient medication for compatibility and safety of apheresis procedure and determine when to contact the physician. Assemble, restock, QC, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
