Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. JOB TITLE : PACU RN PRN GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Assists in provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and centers policies. The center operates Monday through Friday with shifts starting as early as 0530, the closing shift stays until the last patient is discharged (on average 4pm, however can be longer depending on the patient acuity). We have two operating rooms and serve 8-9 patients per day, usually with only one surgeon. Seven Preop/ PACU bays are assigned to a patient for use in both phases of care, and the nursing staff adjust their assignments accordingly. The majority of patients receive spinal anesthesia in preop and during recovery require ambulation of 100 feet. Discharge teaching requires attention to detail as these are all outpatients. REQUIREMENTS : Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing; current Pennsylvania RN License. BLS & ACLS required.
