Job Responsibility Manages and leads team members, operations and patient care activities within a patient care unit during assigned shift. Collaborates with team members and nursing management in the development of methods, techniques and analytical approach to patient care. Communicates, builds consensus, and guides team members toward achieving department objectives. Promotes and maintains high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Creates a professional work environment that encourages team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes. Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice. Provides direction and guidance to patient care unit team members during assigned shift. Demonstrates core clinical competencies for patient population of oversight in order to supervise and provide direct patient care. Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health. Interprets policies, procedures and technical methods for team members. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations that improve patient care delivery and team effectiveness using evidence-based strategies and solutions. Performs related duties as required.
