Ensures that patient understands medication purpose, side effects, and administration instructions in the hospital as well as at the time of discharge. Documentation: Charting is accurate, legible, dated, and timed. Documentation reflects nursing process and interventions and evaluations taken. Utilizes computer systems effectively and efficiently for optimal patient care. Clinical Outcomes: Discusses patient findings and progress toward outcomes with physicians and other members of the health care team. Demonstrates competencies during the probationary period and ongoing completion by departmental competency validation. Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of data, assessments, and evaluations of patient outcomes. Signing the consent form, set-up of the proper equipment for the procedure, and proper BSI precautions in cleaning and maintaining the instrument(s) used in the procedure. Carries out physicians orders as directed by the provider, and initials all diagnostic test forms, lab slips. Screens incoming calls taking appropriate action, relaying the information to not only the provider but also the answer, when directed by the provider, back to the member. Charts and initials such action in the OMR. Performs a variety of lab tests using the dip-stix method such as urine tests, pregnancy tests, and others as directed. Prepares and delivers instruments for Central Service processing. Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills when interacting with other members of the health team or patients. Displays tact and courteous behavior when working with staff and patients. Actively participates in education programs and staff meetings that are scheduled by the department. Maintains a clean work place. Adheres to all Medical Center policies and procedures. Participates and responds, when assigned, to Code Blue emergencies. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years of total RN experience.
